MR. KEANE'S PROFESSIONAL BIO

 Mr. Keane earned his Bachelors in Music Education from The University of Connecticut, his Masters in Education Leadership from The Central Connecticut State University, and studied jazz at the Eastman School of Music summer institute. Over the course of his career, Mr. Keane studied with some of the finest musicians, including well-renowned percussionists Ed Soph and Keith Copeland, and conductors Paul Philips and Larry Radcliff.

Mr. Keane's extensive performance background includes serving as principal percussionist with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra for the past eight years. He consistently performs with some of the finest orchestras in the state, including The New Haven Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra New England. He was a featured soloist with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra and The Percussive Arts Society Connecticut Conference. Mr. Keane was also given the honor to accompany such performers as Ben E. King, The Three Irish Tenors, and Paul Winter. He also performed at top music venues throughout the state, some of which include The Hartford Bushnell, Woolsey Hall, The Palace Theater, The Shubert Theatre, and Mohegan Sun Arena.

Mr. Keane has over twenty-four years of experience in music education and is the music director at Terryville High School where he directs the Concert Band, Marching Band, and Concert Choir. In addition, he served on the music faculty of Naugatuck Valley Community College. His ensembles consistently receive performance ratings of “Excellent” and “Superior” at national music festivals, most recently at “Festivals of Music 2012” in Virginia Beach, VA. His marching band performed at The Columbus Day Parade in New York City, and The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New Haven, CT, where it received an award for “Best High School Marching Band” in 2011 through 2014.

Mr. Keane is a member of several honor societies and fraternities, including The Connecticut Music Educators Association, The Music Educators National Conference, The Percussive Arts Society, The American School Band Directors Association and The American Federation of Musicians Local 186.
