Bio

Mr. Keane earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from The University of Connecticut, a Masters Degree in Education Leadership from The Central Connecticut State University, and has studied jazz at the Eastman School of Music. Over the course of his career, Mr. Keane has studied with some of the finest musicians, including renowned percussionists Ed Soph and Keith Copeland, and conductors Paul Philips and Larry Radcliff.

Mr. Keane's extensive performance background includes serving as principal percussionist with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra for the past 12 years. He consistently performs with some of the finest orchestras in the state, including The New Haven Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra New England. He was a featured soloist with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra and The Percussive Arts Society Connecticut Conference. Mr. Keane has accompanied such artists as Ben E. King, The Three Irish Tenors, and Paul Winter. He also performed at top music venues throughout the state, some of which include The Hartford Bushnell, Woolsey Hall, The Palace Theater, The Shubert Theatre, and Mohegan Sun Arena.

Mr. Keane has over thirty years of experience in music education. He directs the Concert Band, Marching Band, and Concert Choir, Piano Classes, and Guitar Class at Terryville High School. His ensembles consistently receive performance ratings of “Excellent” and “Superior” at national music festivals. His marching band has performed at The Columbus Day Parade in New York City, and The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New Haven, CT where it consistently is placed in the “Best High School Marching Band” award category.

Mr. Keane is a member of several honor societies and fraternities, including The Connecticut Music Educators Association, The Music Educators National Conference, The Percussive Arts Society, The American School Band Directors Association and The American Federation of Musicians Local 186.
